Cai Guo-Qiang “Sky Ladder” Exhibition @ MOCA

It has been several weeks since Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang started preparations for his “Sky Ladder” exhibition at the MOCA in Los Angeles. The opening this past Saturday night proved to be as explosive a reception as the fiery works themselves. Known for his gunpowder drawings and public outdoor explosions, Guo-Qiang didn’t disappoint – utilizing the wall of The Geffen Contemporary as a playground for his pyrotechnics. Inside, viewers were treated to familiar works from him, as well as video compilations and an exploration into suspended sculptural crop circle installations. “Sky Ladder” runs through July 30 at the MOCA.
