Chinese artist Lu Xinjian has created a series of paintings with classic poems from Charles Baudelaire and William Shakespeare buried beneath the visual illusion, implementing pattern recognition concepts similarly found in stereograms (sort of what you would find in magic eye books.)
Each acrylic on canvas painting blends a myriad of colors and patterns through reinterpretation of each poem’s characters, and requires a patient and steady eye to decipher. You can read a full essay from Xinjian on his project here and the motivations behind it. Check out more of his work below
